Faculty Positions with the Whiddon College of Medicine
Physicians who serve in faculty positions with the Whiddon College of Medicine contribute to clinical practice, medical education, and research/scholarship in proportion to their FTE.
Faculty physicians receive an academic rank (assistant professor, associate professor or professor) and will be eligible for promotion and the tenure process. They are reappointed annually and receive yearly evaluations. They participate in College of Medicine committees and can be eligible for emeritus status.Faculty Physician Benefits Summary
Non-Faculty Physicians with USA Health
Physicians who serve in non-faculty positions with USA Health focus the majority of their time on caring for patients, and they do not have academic expectations. Because of their increased availability for patients, they can manage care through both the acute and chronic phases.
Non-faculty physicians have consistent standards regarding productivity and patient care, and they have autonomy to assist in decision making, setting guidelines, and developing standards of care.
